The Marist Tennis Club (formerly the St. Patrick's Tennis Club) has provided a home for family tennis enjoyment in its 83 years of existence. The 80th anniversary was celebrated over Labour Weekend in 2005. The club continues to operate from Vautier Park in Puriri Terrace. There are 17 courts which have all been resurfaced recently, four of them with Rebound Pro.

Marist has encouraged the development of tennis in primary schools. The Saturday morning beginners coaching school is conducted by John Salisbury assisted by Andy Trow. Beginners are coached in small groups. Junior interclub teams practise and receive coaching on Fridays after school. John Salisbury coaches the junior interclub players.

There are opportunities for junior players to participate in winter coaching programmes as well. At the 2007 Manawatu Sports Clubs of the Year Awards we were winners in the Player Development category.

The Steelfort Marist 2007/8 Premier team was runner-up in the Heatrite Tennis Manawatu Premier Championship after winning the two previous years. Congratulations to the Open Reserve A & B teams team and the Junior Boys B team for winning their respective grades. The Girls C team was a runner-up and several other junior teams were well placed.
